New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (New Mexico Tech) is a small, public university located in rural Socorro, about an hour from Albuquerque. It offers a bachelor of science degree in science, technology, engineering, management and communication and masters and doctoral degrees. It operates a number of research centers including the Magdalena Ridge Observatory, National Cave and Karst Research Institute and more.

Summer Programs at New Mexico Tech

The Summer Science Program is a non-profit organization that offers a program in astronomy in conjunction with New Mexico Tech. This is a program for academically gifted students interested in research in near-earth asteroids. The research involves making observations by telescope, writing software, applying calculus with lectures in physics, recreational field trips and hikes. This is a residential program. Fee is all-inclusive. Scholarships are available.
