Massachusetts Institute of Technology is a medium-sized private university and is one of the best known research institutions in the world. It has a strong track record on entrepreneurship, as well. It has produced 81 Nobel laureates, 52 National Medal of Science recipients and more prestigious prize winners. It is located in Cambridge, near Boston.
Research Science Institute is sponsored by the Center for Excellence in Education and offers accomplished high school students the opportunity to study and participate in research. It is a FREE program. The Broad Summer Scholars Program is a similar program, but is for area students and does not offer housing.
Minority Introduction to Engineering and Sciences is a FREE six-week residential program for talented minority students and is an introduction to undergraduate study in engineering and the sciences. Engineering Experience at MIT (E2@MIT) is a similar program, but it is one week long.
MIT Online Science, Technology and Engineering Community is an online program allowing students to receive advice on the college application process and research.
Launch is a four-week entrepreneurship program. Young entrepreneurs start a company in teams and pitch to a panel of judges and investors. Classes are taught by MIT faculty.
iD Tech holds its Tech Camps and Programming Academy at MIT during the summer.
Women's Technology Program is a rigorous four-week residential experiences for girls interested in learning about electrical engineering and computer science or mechanical engineering.
