Travel Abroad Programs includes every continent, except Antarctica, with community service, language acquisition and more. There are over thirty options for sports camps based on college campuses. Loyola University Chicago is a medium-sized university affiliated with the Roman Catholic Church. It has campuses throughout Chicago and in Rome. It offers 71 undergraduate degrees, 85 masters and 31 doctoral degrees.
One-week Seminars are non-credit courses that involve hands-on activities and field trips. The topics are social justice, sustainability, ballet (as an art form) and introduction to medicine. The Six-Week Academy puts high school students in the same courses as Loyola students. A student may enroll in two courses. Credit is earned for these courses. There is a limited selection of courses and they are in classical studies, communication, economics, English, fine arts, history, math, business, foreign languages, philosophy, sociology and theology. Summer Enrichment at Loyola (SEaL) offers academic preparation and mentoring to mid-performing high school students from the Chicago area. Students are drawn from low-income, first-generation and/or minority populations. This is a FREE program.
The Research and Engineering Apprenticeship (REAP) program encourages students from similar backgrounds to consider a career in science. This is for high-achieving students and it pays a stipend. The schedule is flexible and students work with scientists as research interns.
Summer Pre-Collegiate English Language Learning (SPELL) is an intensive 3-week residential program for pre-college students, ages 16-20. Students will learn academic and everyday English and participate in Loyola college life and field trips in the Chicago area.
