Kansas City Art Institute is a small, private college of art and design founded in 1885. It is accredited by several associations and offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Its majors include animation, art history, creative writing, digital filmmaking and more. Faculty have included Thomas Hart Benton and Elaine de Kooning. Alumni include Nick Cave and Robert Rauschenberg.

Summer Programs at Kansas City Art Institute

Pre-College ArtLab (PCAL) is a three-week residency program for high school students, ages 14–18. The program offers studio options in painting, illustration, ceramics or photography with art history, field trips and a portfolio review. Fee includes tuition, college credit, room and board.

ARTventures Summer Camps offers weekly half-day program for ages 6 and up. Half-days can be combined to make a full-day camp.
