Boston University is a large, private research university with an enrollment of approximately 33,000 students. It offers degrees through the doctoral level with medical, dental, business and law schools as part of the University. It is recognized as a leading university with well-regarded programs in public health, social work, law, medicine, engineering, business and education. The University guarantees housing for all four years and the majority of undergraduates live on campus. Don’t confuse this school with Boston College – a smaller, Catholic school in the suburbs.

Summer Programs at Boston University

PROMYS is a six-week residential program for mathematically gifted high school students. Students attend lectures, work through challenging number theory problems and engage in research, mentored by mathematicians.

High School Honors is a six-week program that allows high school students to earn up to eight college credits on a residential or commuter basis. Students choose courses from a wide range of undergraduate level offerings.

Summer Challenge is a two-week residential program for rising high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. Students choose two seminars from a range of topics. Students are encouraged to choose one based on an existing interest and one exploring a new subject. These do not offer college credit. Summer Preview is similar, but is a one-week program with a choice of biology, mathematics or writing.

Research Internship in Science & Engineering is a six-week program that encourages high school students to participate in advanced research. There are opportunities in astronomy, biology, computer engineering, psychology and more.

Academic Immersion is a residential program with an intense focus on a single topic. In 2015, the area is "Introduction to Medicine".

Boston University hosts Student Programs of the New England Center for Investigative Reporting. Programs focus on writing and reporting important stories in the public interest. There is also a workshop was an emphasis specifically on broadcasting a video story.

Swimsport Camp is a full-day camp offered in several sessions. Campers enjoy a variety of activities and can choose a focus of sailing, swim, competitive swimming or dance.
